Yarn Bomb Taos

Help us coat the town in yarn!

Inspirational tags

Abbey made some inspirational tags for the Taos Yarn Bombing.

She’s also making tags with stripes going vertical. So clever and super cute!

Test fitting

Both Abbey and I have been test fitting our tags. Here’s one of her latest.

We’ve found that if the yarn is stretchy we can decrease the tag width by 1 or 2 inches and still have it fit snug. Test fitting is a good idea. It helps to double check the dimensions are correct.

I’ve been running around town double and triple checking my measurements!

Skinny tags

I’ve made more yarn bombs. These ones are for skinny street signs like stop signs and speed limit signs.

The red one is wider and I knit it the exact dimension of the post-9 1/4″ wide. Luckily I did a test run and the knit fabric stretched. I didn’t think of that. So now I’m making them 7″ wide and the completed tag easily stretches to fit.

The stripes theme keeps the knitting from being too monotonous. Sometimes I’ll go with a pattern of stripes; other times I like to mix it up and put them in randomly.

I’m making skinny sign posts tags roughly 45″. That’s long enough to make a visual impact but short enough that I can crank out more.

Abbey tags

Abbey has joined inĀ  the yarn bomb project. They look great!

For the tags the width is the vital measurements. As you can see above the length can be varied.
